Our Adult Day Care program serves persons over 16 years of age who have medical, physical, social and/or cognitive disabilities. Our service area includes Northern Kentucky and the surrounding counties.

Hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.

  • Continental style breakfast available if requested.   
  • Please bring a suitable packed lunch and a beverage.  Staff will chop/puree food as needed.
  • Provision of fluids and nutrient-dense snacks at mid-afternoon.
  • Assistance with eating as indicated by the individual’s plan of care. Supplies and devices needed for special feeding are to be supplied by the caregiver.
  • Assistance as needed with activities of daily living (mobility, eating, grooming, toileting) and supervision of personal hygiene.
  • Promotion of optimum physical independence within the limits of the individual’s impairment.
  • Evaluation and/or consultation by licensed physical, occupational, and/or speech therapists with physician authorization.
  • Daily program of guided exercises.
  • Reality orientation.
  • A balanced activity program with opportunity for individual choice of activities based on abilities and preference
  • Group and individual activities such as educational topics, modified cooking classes, musical programs, gardening, Wii, films, games, crafts, speakers and visitors
  • Community outings
  • Health education

Services Avaliable

The Bill & Betsy Scheben Care Center is an authorized Medicaid Transportation Provider.  The Scheben Center will also provide (if available) private pay transportation to/from the Center.  For more information regarding transportation availability and scheduling, please contact Kym Hodge at khodge@csadultday.org

 

The Bill & Betsy Scheben Care Center is continually striving to meet the following objectives with respect to services provided:

Services

Services provided by the program include:

  • Medical and Nursing Services
  • Individual plan of care that includes: A health and functional assessment; a plan of care that identifies the person’s strengths and needs, specific goals to meet the needs, and activities to reach the goals; notes on progress toward goals; reassessment; and a discharge plan and summary
  • Administration of medications
  • Supervised rest periods (if needed)
  • Emergency medical care plan and provision of first aid
  • Consultation with and referral to personal physician as needed
  • Monitoring of health status (e.g., vital signs, intake/output monitoring, monitoring blood sugar level)
  • Activities to promote health maintenance
  • Carrying out or supervising simple treatments ordered by the individual’s personal physician (supplies not provided)

A registered/licensed practical nurse(s) is available to the program staff and individuals at all times.

Respite care is generally defined as a “care-giving” service that provides a planned intermittent break from the ongoing responsibility of caring for a chronically disabled individual who is being managed at home.  This program is open to individuals 16 years of age and older.

What is the purpose of respite care?

The purpose of the program is to provide short-term relief and respite for persons who are providing continuing care for family members in the home.

What are the benefits of respite care?

The program offers a supervised, structured environment for the family member who may be experiencing physical and/or mild cognitive impairment as a result of the aging process or medical issues. For more information or to schedule a nursing assessment, please call 859-525-1128 ext. 239.

When is the respite care program open?

The program is offered one Saturday per month in the Adult Day Health area.  Please call 859-525-1128 for the schedule.

Hours of operation are 9:00am – 4:30pm, excluding major holidays.

What does the respite care program cost?

The cost is $13.25 per hour with a 4 hour minimum. Cash or check will be accepted at the beginning of the admission day. 

We do accept SCL, Michele P and HCB waivers. There is also some county funding available.

What should I bring?

Bring all medications in original labeled containers from the pharmacy, as prescribed by the physician.

Bring an extra set of clothes.

Bring any medical supplies or equipment used at home.

Some examples include:

  • Respiratory equipment/oxygen
  • Dressings
  • Catheters or continence pads
  • Tube feeding and related supplies
  • Wheelchair
  • Walker/cane
  • Splints/braces
  • Adaptive feeding utensils
